Privacy Policy for Scout Agent for Creators

1. Information We Collect & Store

Scout Agent for YouTube ("we", "us", or "the extension") follows a local-first principle. We do not collect or store your personal data on our servers.

1.1 Local Storage Only

The following data is stored only in your browser (Chrome local storage or sync storage). We do not have access to it.

  • Filter preferences: Your saved search filters (e.g. sort order, date range, combined filters) so the extension can reapply them automatically.
  • Search history: A local record of searches you run within the extension, used to support "memory" and quick re-run. This never leaves your device.
  • UI settings: Sidebar state, pinned items, and other interface preferences.

1.2 Payment (ExtensionPay)

If you choose a paid (Premium) plan, we use ExtensionPay for payment processing. The extension does not collect or store your credit card or bank details. Payment and subscription status are handled by ExtensionPay according to their privacy policy.

2. How We Use Data

Data stored locally is used solely to provide the extension's features: remembering filters, restoring search state, and improving your workflow (e.g. combined search, sidebar pinning). We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or resale. We do not upload your search history or preferences to our servers.

3. Third-Party Services

The extension interacts with the following third parties:

3.1 YouTube (Google)

Scout Agent runs on YouTube pages. It may read and modify page content only to add sidebar, filters, and search enhancements. We do not send your YouTube viewing history or account data to our servers. Any requests to YouTube/Google are made by your browser in the normal way and are subject to Google's privacy policy.

3.2 ExtensionPay

Used for Premium subscription and one-time upgrades. Payment and subscription data are processed by ExtensionPay. We receive only non-sensitive signals (e.g. that a subscription is active) to unlock Premium features locally.

4. Data Security

Your data stays in your browser's storage. We do not operate servers that store your search history or preferences. We rely on Chrome's built-in security and, where applicable, ExtensionPay's security for payment data.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

When you uninstall the extension, all local data (filters, search history, settings) is removed with the extension. We do not retain a copy. For payment or subscription data, refer to ExtensionPay's policy.

6. Permissions We Use

We request only the permissions needed for the extension to function:

  • Storage: To save your filter preferences, search history, and UI settings locally.
  • Tabs: To run the extension on YouTube tabs and show the sidebar alongside the video page.
  • Alarms: To support scheduled or background tasks (e.g. periodic updates) where applicable.
  • Host permissions (e.g. youtube.com): To read and modify YouTube pages so we can add the sidebar, combined search, and filter memory. We do not access other sites or your general browsing.

7. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will be revised when changes are made. Continued use of the extension after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
